A large amount of flight training scholarships are now available through AOPA. These scholarships represent an opportunity for pilots to receive financial assistance towards their training for almost any certificate from Private through Multi Engine Instructor.
AOPA has divided their scholarships into four groups: high school, teacher, primary and advanced. 80 high school students around the country will each receive $10,000 towards their primary flight training. Each applicant must be a member of AOPA, maintain a minimum GPA and exhibit qualities of leadership as demonstrated through participation in school clubs and volunteer programs.
The teacher category provides high school teachers with $10,000 towards their primary flight training. Applicants must be employed by a school full time and teach the AOPA High School Aviation STEM Curriculum. 20 teachers will receive this scholarship in the coming year.
Anyone that does not fall into the high school or teacher categories but is pursuing their primary flight training may be eligible to receive a scholarship ranging from $2,500 to $7,500. Applicants must be a member of AOPA and at least 16 years of age.
The AOPA advanced rating scholarship is exciting for pilots pursuing certificates above and beyond their primary training. Scholarships ranging from $3,000 – $10,000 will be awarded towards instrument, commercial, CFI, CFII or MEI training.
Applications received by Sunday, March 1st will be given priority consideration though the final deadline is not until Sunday, March 15th.
